No one notices a Chevrolet Suburban, but everyone stares at a Hummer H2 -
especially the yellow ones. Whether to see or be seen, staring is one of the few
things you get to do for free in Vegas. No vehicle on the road commands
attention the way the an H2 does. Its size and attitude overwhelms everything
else on the road.
The huge, slotted chrome grill fills your fellow commuters' rearview mirrors.
The slab-sided body presents a wall of painted metal and towering tires to the
adjacent lane. Running boards aren't an accessory, they're a necessity. If the
H2 were a person, it would be the life of the party. The H2 succeeds admirably
in replicating the look and off-road capabilities of the hulking, legendary H1
combat vehicle. It's better mannered, more comfortable and pint-sized in
comparison to its army dad, yet offers the same feel of relentless force.
Climbing into the driver's seat, the driver is immediately seized with the
impulse to take over the world. Unfortunately for you, the feeling only lasts a
few hours. (Off-Road Travel Prohibited).
