POPULAR
DESTINATION: LAS VEGAS
In the last couple of years,
bachelor parties have changed from the stereotypical all-night bender before
the wedding to an all-out event, sometimes lasting several days, said Chris
Schultz, president of BachelorBlowOut.com.
And Las Vegas has benefited from
that change.
"It's definitely the destination for bachelor parties," Schultz said.
Traditionally, a bachelor party marked the last moments of freedom for a
soon-to-be husband and gave him the opportunity to behave like the single
man he still was. That meant drinking to excess, being entertained by a
stripper or just hanging out with the guys.
Now, Schultz said, the manly parties are "definitely evolving into vacation
packages. But it's a major headache to plan these things. You have to get
about 20 people together, coordinate their schedules, plan a party."
That's where he comes in by selling travel packages and planning the event.
He also does bachelorette parties.
A typical two-night package costs $300 to $350 per person and includes a
double occupancy room at hotels such as the Hard Rock, Palms and the Rio, as
well as a six-hour limousine tour of some of the hip nightclubs.
Add-ons, such as golf for the men or spa visits for the women, cost extra.
One thing he doesn't do: adult entertainment. Instead, if a client wants a
stripper, Schultz recommends a gentlemen's club over an in-room dancer.
"I think any time someone gets a name out of the phone book, they're
unhappy," he said.
Surprisingly, less than 50 percent of his clients request adult
entertainment, further proof that the nature of such parties is changing,
Schultz added.
"I think there's a risque nature to bachelor parties, something taboo about
them. But Las Vegas has always embraced (the taboo), making it a lot of fun
and making it acceptable," Schultz said. "I think bachelor parties are right
on the verge to being totally acceptable to society."

SIN (CITY) IS IN AS LAS VEGAS
EMERGES AS THE PARTYING CAPITAL FOR THE LAST WEEKEND OF FREEDOM |
|
Out Of The Back Rooms And Into The
Mainstream: Bachelor Parties Go Big Time In Las Vegas |
| Los Angeles, CA - October 11, 2002 - Business is
booming in Las Vegas, and more people than ever are celebrating their last
rights of single-hood in Sin City, USA: Las Vegas. What are they
flocking to this oasis in the desert for? For anything and everything
they could want for a bachelor or bachelorette party: luxurious hotels,
world-class golf courses, VIP clubbing, and fine dining. The towering
hotel casinos are welcoming groups of up to 30 revelers in town for a
weekend of decadence as they use the bride or groom's departure from the
single life as an reason to blow it out one more time. And Las Vegas
offers just the right mix of glamour, glitz, high-rolling, and of course,
lasciviousness.
"In the early 90's Las Vegas went through a
cycle of attempting to become a family-oriented destination, but the casinos found
that families with children are not the gambling types that they are looking
for." says Chris Schultz, president of BachelorBlowOut.com, "Vegas
has come
full circle back to its roots. Sin is in, and the city is rebuilding
its reputation and staking it on the party lifestyle." In the last several
years, the scene in Las Vegas has exploded with of new world-class nightclubs with
casinos and promoters opening clubs and after-hour lounges, each one
bigger and better than the last. In effect, Las Vegas has turned
itself into a playground for adults: the ideal locale for a bachelor or
bachelorette party.
In addition to clubbing, many of the best
restaurants in the country have opened sister operations in Las Vegas and
the city now boasts culinary delights to rival New York, San Francisco and
New Orleans.
The city also has sprouted a wealth of golf courses, and with greens fees
upwards of $200, they are sure to be in pristine condition.
"Our business skyrocketed this year," says
Chris Schultz. "Bachelor parties are hot, and Vegas is the place to hold
them."
BachelorBlowOut.com is capitalizing on both the continued growth in tourism
to Las Vegas, as well as the growth in the tradition of bachelor and
bachelorette parties. It fills a void in the availability of package tours
for these events, providing the full-service solution that the parties' planners are
seeking. The tradition of bachelor and bachelorette parties has become a
prerequisite to the wedding, and the destination of choice has emerged as
Las Vegas. Much like the wedding day, the bachelor/bachelorette party is
viewed as something that happens only once, so great importance is placed on
doing it right. BachelorBlowOut.com fills this need by providing reliable
booking services, offering a wealth of planning information, and providing
extensive coordination tools to assist the party’s planners.
Visit Las Vegas on any given weekend, and
you're sure to spot groups of hipsters and gaggles of boa-clad women
roaming the streets, casinos, and nightclubs. Ask them what they're in
town celebrating and they're sure to reply "We are blowing it out for a
bachelor or bachelorette party in Vegas, baby, Vegas!" |
